Travelling to Åland
Dusk to dawn photography with Andy Horner 6-9.1.2022
During the course we will cover the following:
Techniques for photographing sunsets and sunrises, dusk and dawn twilight, afterglow, moonlit landscapes, the night sky, full moons, the Milky Way, star trails, meteor showers, auroras and associated phenomena, eclipses and noctilucent clouds. Scenes where celestial and artificial light are mixed, like firework displays, streetlit scenes and lights of moving vehicles with long shutter speeds. We will also practise light painting, where the photographer herself/himself introduces light into the scene, for instance with torchlight and coloured filters.
During the field sessions participants will work on specific photo tasks and there will be feedback sessions.
What you should bring with you:
You should bring a digital camera with spare batteries, a wideangle lens and a solid tripod, and a laptop for processing your photos. This is not a course in post processing of photos, but if you have Photoshop or Lightroom installed on your laptop it will be an advantage. You will also need warm clothes and footwear, hat and gloves, and a headlamp or good torch with spare batteries (the torch in your mobile phone is not suitable!) A thermos flask is a good idea if you need a warm drink on a cold winter night outdoors.
