Join us on Åland in May for an exciting nature photography weekend. At the end of May the Åland Islands are a paradise for both plant and bird photographers. A mild climate, lime-rich soils, and grazed coastal meadows give a rich and varied flora which is unequalled anywhere else in Finland. Several species of orchids bloom abundantly at this time of year and the meadows and woods are carpeted with wildflowers. In addition, the Åland archipelago is a paradise for migratory birds to breed. At the end of May the landscape is a myriad of fresh greens, the days are long, the nights are light and the weather is usually good.

 

The course will start at 16.00 on Friday and finish at 13.00 on Sunday.                                              

 

On this photography workshop with internationally celebrated nature photographer Andy Horner, we will go through techniques for photographing flowering plants both close-up and as a part of the landscape. We will also cover the basics of photographing wild birds. And of course, we will spend a lot of time in the field.

 

You will need to bring along a digital camera with wide angle and telephoto lenses (or zoom) and a close-up lens if you have one; spare batteries and your own laptop.
